The (RAMS) was formed in 2024 by the amalgamation of the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), the Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC) and the Army Nursing Services (QAIMNS & QARANC).
Treske were commissioned to design three memorial bookcases to hold the combined memorial books of the Royal Army Medical Service RAMS. Made in walnut to blend with and not distract from the monuments, the three memorial book cabinets are positioned below the RAMC memorial tablet and stained glass window erected for those who died serving in the two World Wars. The cabinets are positioned in the north aisle of the nave of Westminster Abbey, adjacent to the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.
The memorial books are positioned by walnut pegs and rest on a blue felt. The lockable glass paneled top surface and glass paneled front lift up to allow access for the regular ceremonial page turning. Once open the panels are supported by brass stays.
Brass plaques referring to each of Memorial book and constituent part of RAMS are set on a shelf above the books to the rear of the cabinets, to allow for good visibility through the glass.
"The cabinets are wonderful. The Abbey is happy and we are too. Pass on our thanks to the lads"
