A great admirer of design in all forms, Mike's designs draw on Art Noveau, Arts and Crafts, as well as Impressionist painting. Inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and Charles Voysey, Mike’s designs pay homage to the Arts and Crafts movement. Whilst his interests go on and on, he is most at home gardening and walking on the rolling hills of Yorkshire.
A proud former member of the Winksley cum Grantley Young Farmers Club, Lucy is now looking after the next generation of young farmers. Lucy's takes the natural outdoors of her native Dales as inspiration for her furniture design and is always looking forward to tackling customers projects. Lucy plans include a visit Canada in the future, to go to Lake Louise in Alberta, to see the real giants of rock looming over scenic turquoise glacier-fed water.
Ilana is a painter, spending her spare time preparing for art exhibitions, whilst at Treske she manages social media, content creation and Treske’s websites, as well as looking after the showroom. Rap, Disco and Funk music provide a steady rhythm to Ilana’s workday, while the timber and veneers of the workshop are a key source material for much of her current paintings.
A dedicated renovator of houses and their gardens, her membership of the Historic Houses Association allows Olivia to indulge in her appetite for historic buildings and in particular Arts and Crafts houses. Another hobby is Olivia’s fascination with fast cars, regularly attending Formula 1 and Moto GP races across Europe, Brazil and Australia, with the Targa Florio in Sicily next on her bucket list.
An outdoors veteran of working on ranches several days from help in the wilderness, John has now settled for the civilisation of North Yorkshire. As a keen furniture maker himself, it is worth nothing that John's favourite furniture item is the iconic Finn Juhl Easy 45 armchair. A talented family man, John also cooks and fries a wide range of American culinary delights, from burgers to wings. A fierce Strava competitor, he can often be seen running around the streets of Thirsk, keeping himself active whilst listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash.
Inspired by design and technology at school, he graduated in Furniture making and design from Bucks University. In his down time, Simon relishes hitting the road on his bike, cycling through Yorkshire, his favourite route in particular? Reeth. When he is not designing furniture or cycling through the Dales, Simon is a skilled mechanic.
Kathy is a mainstay of voluntary community works, carrying out shopping for those who cannot as well as ferrying people to hospital visits – for which her passion for reading books comes invaluable during waiting times. Walking around Thirsk and the surrounding moors is a pleasure that Kathy values as much as being able to go on special trips to see ballet performances in Liverpool or London. To relax, a good UB40 track and some gifted pottery making help fill what spare time Kathy has left in the day.
Any spare time from restoring and driving his 1914 Swift veteran cycle car, is spent either cycling around the beautiful Yorkshire Dales or carefully painting pictures of classic motor vehicles. John is the inventor of the classic chicken egg laying accommodation the Chook Wagon and its faster model the Yolks Wagon and as such is always looking for innovations and challenges. The Dales cycling and his recent coast to coast trip provided ideal time to listen to Neil Young and Lightning Dust, but if he had to listen to only one singer forever, he would choose Janice Joplin.
Sean’s hobbies include and producing a prodigious output of woodwork ranging from bird boxes to household furniture from his shed and Karate which, although not in current use, he keeps in condition for by lifting heavy weights at the gym. A classic Honda trail bike is currently being rebuilt from bits to bike to move him between tea shops in favourite holiday spots around the Lakes, Wales, and Cornwall. A currently unfulfilled ambition is to skydive – yes, you’ve guessed it - in the Karate kit.
An avid chicken Parmo fan and famed for a level of Instagram following most people could only dream of, Lewis is a fearsome karate competitor - possibly developed whilst he was an undergraduate at Teesside University's Product Design course. Night outs in the town centre will be quiet once Lewis starts planning his ideal holiday in Thailand. A keen Spurs fan, Lewis is looking forward to the new stadium experience when he next gets the chance.
All of Steve’s spare time is taken up with looking after his children, however, he would like to resurrect his motorsport viewing at Croft and Silverstone. A future goal for Steve is renovating his dream home for his family.
Well known for colourful descriptions and lucky shots on the local golf course, Phil is a regular pub pop quiz champion with his carefully chosen team. A regular festival goer, frequently attending the Willowman and Beat Herder, Phil has recently seen Paradise Palace and would love to combine a wish to play golf overseas and watch the Stone Roses live.
Having joined Treske from his own cabinet making company, Niall has worked for both Silverlining and Andrew Lawton furniture, bringing with him tremendous experience into the Treske team. In his down time, Niall has a great love for food and wine, the only thing better is if he caught the meal himself! He is a keen fly fisherman, happily paddling his way through his local river after the elusive trout.
Lee's favourite way of displaying timber is through large form of matched wooden staves when making tabletops. He is also a regular attendee at Motorsport shows, as technical advances in motor engineering fascinate Lee.
A former professional photographer, Richard is inspired by the French photographer Louis Daguerre, who invented the Daguerreotype. When he is not being creative, Richard is an avid sailor and a talented archer, having up competitive Field Archery, he has since qualified for the Scottish National Championships near Whitby.
With an impeccable handicap of 14.1, having taken up golf recently for outdoor recreation, Alex shows all the other Treske golfers how it’s done. He also enjoys going to live gigs - best experience yet was seeing the Foo Fighters in concert, he is now looking forward to the Courteeners.
In between work, and teaching himself to play the guitar, James finds time to enjoy going out with his friends to the many pubs in Thirsk, his favourite being The Frankland Arms. An enthusiastic music follower, James likes to dance at as many music concerts as possible, the most memorable being a 50Cent concert at the Newcastle Metro Arena. James would like to travel to more of Europe, in particular Italy - for its spectacular food and amazing views.
In John’s work shed is a part finished Canadian Canoe just waiting for launching once he has retired. Continuing the North American theme, Shaker furniture is a great inspiration for John's cabinet making.
Solving the mystery of how Chris knows all about garden tea parties and cakes for teddy bears, is obvious when you discover his love of learning about sleuthing and detective work can be applied to keeping his daughter amused! For this former keen footballer, surfer and all-round sportsman, Chris is at his happiest with his family and playing guitar.
As soon as it starts raining, H starts running for the river. The search for pike has brought him major success, reaching acclaimed fame with front page news on Angling times reporting on his 24lb 12oz catch! Our best and most loyal Newcastle supporter, his spray room is dedicated to past glories at St James's.
A loyal follower of York City and, for glamour, Manchester United, Willie has transferred his love for football onto the pitch, having played in goal for Thirsk in the Harrogate league twice reaching the Harrogate league cup final. Willie is a highly skilled cabinet maker, taking inspiration from some of the Church furniture designs he has been involved in making, especially the altar for All Saint's Winterton, and the Choir Stalls for St Martins in the Fields.
Philip loves seeing different parts of the country and finding time to walk and draw. Often touring on his motorbike, he is a keen collector of memorabilia.
A talented fitter and very clever sportsman and cricketer, keeping wicket for Northallerton, any spare time Tom has is spent following Huddersfield Town FC. Tom listens to most, if not all genres of music and would like to return to Ibiza to discover more.
Mark is an experienced clay pigeon shooting enthusiast, consistently trying to improve his averages for the last 42 years. When not walking along our northern countryside, Mark's ambition is to have a Silver Birch woodland, and his interests include the British Home defences. He would like to be able to visit Germany's West Wall on his next holiday.
Probably the best present every given by an uncle, Izaac has started his two-year-old nephew on woodwork with his own mini joinery kit. Izaac is also a great traveller, enjoying the roads around our Yorkshire coastline in a sporty A3, particularly at night with trips to Skegness and Bridlington. Trips further afield to see the coast from Liverpool up to Blackpool at night have been highlights. A love of cooking and different pastas will surely see Izaac heading towards Italy for a dream gastronomic and driving holiday.
A growing family keeps Ryan busy, and as a keen supporter of the Manchester United he is used to a fast pace. Ryan can be seen running at speed on footpaths around Thirsk to keep fit enough for his love of martial arts. Late night MMA viewing may find Ryan nodding off between bouts, dreaming about trips to Brazil to find the origins of Brazilian Jujitsu, or to Thailand to practice secret techniques to call on in times of need.
A great North Yorkshire hockey player, Liam is a speedy midfielder bringing his stick skills honed at Thirsk hockey club to woodwork at Treske. Working in oak and walnut, as well as being involved with the creation of special items of furniture, like the Manchester Cathedral altar, are the projects Liam looks the most forward to. When not on the pitch, Liam is taking on the red trail with his mountain bike at Sutton Bank - hoping not to get a puncture 7 miles out next time!
A dedicated motorsport enthusiast and especially MotoGP, either a Harley or Ducati are noisy enough to wake Chris from his shopping list dreams. At home a ZZR1100 has been Chris’s bike of choice for fast commutes and makes use of his engineering skills for slightly slower maintenance. When not working or repairing bikes, Chris relaxes through the appreciation of other people’s skills at live Indie music concerts, while the slower pace of the golf course also beckons.
The South Kilvington Freddie Flintoft of the cricket team, James bats at number 4 and opens the bowling. Like his doppelganger, he keeps fit at the gym and through home improvement projects, having given up boxing. James's taste for a wide variety of easy listening music is matched by his extensive travels to Australia, the far East and Europe.
Always cheerful and ready to help Tom is a keen and athletic climber, spending a great deal of time hanging around on the York climbing wall. When back on the ground a surprising turn of pace in relation to the amount of training, has resulted in Tom becoming a mainstay of the Treske Tough Mudder team. Tom is also an accomplished artist, particularly drawing and portraiture. Tom scales down his active pursuits by playing his guitar and listening to Indie music.
Outside work Justin is a devoted trout and salmon fisherman, which adds to his outdoor activities that consist of playing golf, gardening, and hill walking. When he is not outside, he is indoors fulfilling DIY tasks that he has set himself.
A keen camping and walking enthusiast, regular family holidays take place in the Lake District and Dumfriesshire. Russell's current design inspiration is the colourful geometric art of Paul Klee and Treske’s very own Arts & Crafts range.
When he is not making furniture or rebuilding his house, Mark likes to watch cars to race on track and in drifting competitions. The peak of his track career recently hit a new high, not anything else, whilst driving a Nascar on the Daytona track while on holiday. Mark enjoys the mechanical and technical challenges that racing and building his own cars provide.
Karen would most like to see more alternative rock music live, such as her current favourites, Twenty One Pilots. She is also a frequent filmgoer, with an enthusiasm for visual culture - which carries through to theatre, and musical performances. She also has a strong interest in all things Welsh.
Sue, when not solving the never-ending problem of keeping the showrooms clean, is a keen birdwatcher and helps with the local Thirsk Brass Band. With a great love of the Alps, she regularly tours the sights of Austria.
