Treske worked with Chesterfield Borough Council on a complete refurbishment of the chapel for Chesterfield Crematorium. Treske developed bespoke crematoria furniture designs from the brief, presenting a full interior and colour scheme proposal for a lighter modern look to update the chapel, before manufacturing and installing the new catafalque, seating, frontals and other furniture.
Treske made and installed a new catafalque linking the design to that of the seating frontals, lectern and organ surround. New curtains and pelmet were installed along with track motors and the curtain controller for the committal area.
Further furnishings including blinds to diffuse the light for the windows were commissioned, made and installed. Treske made the Chapel non stacking chair seating with upholstered seats and wooden backs in quality solid oak. The fabric chosen for the upholstery was Crib 5. The chairs are linked together using ball and socket links (enabling de coupling so that seating can be moved or wheelchairs can be included within the seating layout) for consistent chapel presentation as well as to conform to fire regulations.
The new furniture consisted of a bespoke catafalque, console table, ambo-style lectern incorporating audio visual controls, and the main committal curtains and voile.
Bespoke crematoria stacking chairs made in oak and with rush seats, to the design Treske designed for St Magnus Cathedral on Orkney.
Treske supplied a new lectern with integrated controls and AV features, redesigned the catafalque base and developed a striking design style for the crematoria furniture. The oak benches with upholstered seats and frontals used the same design as the catafalque and reader.
